As a small-business owner myself, I know first-hand the burdens of running your own business, and, frankly, I’m tired of Rhode Island being the first into economic downturns and the last one out. I also have experienced the frustration of do-good legislation and state and local regulations that actually discourages our businesses.
As lieutenant governor, I will work on a comprehensive plan to reshape our tax policy in this state. I will develop loan programs that have shown to be successful in other communities. And, I will help foster an environment that attracts young entrepreneurs to the Ocean State, not scare them away.
In my six terms as Mayor, I have helped create one of the strongest municipalities, financially, in Rhode Island. I’ve also cut unnecessary red tape in order to streamline bringing new jobs to the town, including the expansion of CVS that created hundreds of new jobs.
