Top Democratic Pollster Joins McKee Campaign
Today, Cumberland Mayor, small business owner and Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Dan McKee announced Jeff Plaut of Global Strategy Group (GSG) has joined his campaign as pollster.
“We're excited to be working with one of the top Democratic pollsters in the country,” Mayor McKee said. “Jeff’s experience and insight will help us be successful in our campaign for lieutenant governor.”
GSG’s strong record of success in New England includes several tough Democratic primaries. In 2010, the firm helped Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy win their difficult primary races, and then guided both to general election wins. Most recently, GSG was the pollster for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s 2013 preliminary and general election wins.
Plaut is a founding partner in the firm and a Brown University alumnus with more than two decades of experience in high-stakes campaigns and strategic research. His current and former clients include the Democratic Governors Association, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, numerous New England local and statewide elected officials, and several members of Congress.
“I’m honored to be joining Dan’s campaign,” Plaut said. “With an excellent record as Mayor of Cumberland, Dan brings a new style of leadership that Rhode Islanders are searching for. Under his stewardship, this state will become a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
The addition of Plaut rounds out Mayor McKee’s consulting team. Earlier this year, he announced that Achim Bergmann of Bergmann Zwerdling Direct would handle direct mail strategy and Jen Burton and Bobby Gravitz of SWAY would serve as his media consultants.
